Attached is the updated DINNER AT JANE’S flyer based on information received during my meeting with Mary Jane Jacob (Chair & Professor of Sculpture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago).
“I have long been struck by the ways nineteenth-century feminism has been lost or reinterpreted by time. It seems as if a history has been erased, and that the perceptual frame we need to adequately ‘know’ this time and its implications does not exist. This erasure of history is reflected today in Chicago through its public face — the lack of a female presence in public monuments and sculptures.”
Suzanne Lacy (from the “Full Circle” chapter of Culture in Action)
