The genocide (now almost 20 years ago & seen in historical footage) has left horrendous scars, but these determined women–Hutus & Tutsis–are working towards a new future together. Kudos to filmmakers Lisa and Rob Fruchtman for their brilliant mix of laughter & tears!

Note that this is at least the 4th doc I have seen about the Rwandan Genocide, so I can say with confidence that each one takes a different slant & if you have seen one you have certainly NOT seen them all. But filmed almost 20 years after tragic events, Sweet Dreams is able to describe the past with some distance. It is not grim; it is buoyant & full of life. See it! I promise you’ll be glad you did.
