Day Eleven of the 2014 Rendez Vous with French Cinema
One year in a Parisian “Reception Class,” where an indefatigable teacher helps a room full of tweens learn basic educational skills.
The kids come from all over the world & some barely know the rudiments of spoken French, & yet, despite the family trauma implied by each mini-story, they–& their parents–are filled with such hope your heart will melt. (JLH: 4/5)

The teacher (Do we ever learn the name of this wonderful woman?) interacts with many students–male and female–but most of her interactions with their parents are woman-to-woman. Yes, sometimes fathers come too, but the mothers are always there!
